I'm not sure- I seem to recall Tear saying that they'd become identified as my Merchant level went up, but I may be mistaken... I've been grabbing them and then dropping them in favor of normal items as I go... Consequentially I've never actually carried one out of the dungeon. Pretty much exactly this, on both clauses. I've taken a few out of the dungeon and they don't even show up in your inventory unless you go to a vendor (I think). Many thanks to the both of you for the info! I'll probably vendor the ones I came back with (only about two) at my next opportunity.

The identified ingredients I've brought back, BTW, have never actually sold... There doesn't seem to be a market for ingredients. I think Tear said something about a fusion shop; maybe you should look around in town and see if anyone will identify them? - HC ETA: Also, I think you can have Tear repeat any of the tutorials by talking to her at the shop. She is a bit wordy- I found that after a point, her tutorials definitely had a "ALL RIGHT ALREADY" aspect to them.

I've very occasionally sold ingredients put on the shelves for sale. I think they're primarily used for crafting/fusion, which you can unlock at merchant level... uh.. 5 I think.

All I know is that nobody wants to buy chestnuts or slime fluid. Even if it's REALLY AWESOME Slime Fluid.

Seems to me like you guys are accomplishing a lot in the single week my demo let me play; did you guys find a way to lift that time limit?

I actually ended up restarting twice- the first time because it was a 'hey lets see if this game runs' trial and I only played for 20 minutes, and the second time because I managed to shaft myself by dying in a dungeon (which may have actually been recoverable, but I started over anyway).

News! After a month of hand-wringing, we are pleased to announce that Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale will be sold on Stardock's Impulse platform. Stardock has been a supporter of independent software development for over a decade and we're thrilled to be going up on Impulse.
Recettear will be available for purchase on Impulse for the price of 20 USD in North America, 15 Euros in the European Union and 13 GBP in Great Britain, and is tentatively scheduled for release on September 10th, 2010. This date may change slightly depending on certain factors involved with the QA process for both Carpe Fulgur and Impulse, but that is the current target date. Emphasis mine, text from their news page. Whee!

Steam is less annoying than Impulse, but I already have Impulse due to purchases of certain Stardock strategy games.

Yeah, that'd do it. I had impulse installed around the time Demigod was released- it was okay, but on the most part it seemed like an inferior clone of Steam... Just one more thing that really wanted to be one more thing sucking up system resources when I booted. (I seem to remember that it really wanted me to install a bunch of system toolbars when I installed it, too, but I may be misremembering that) Oh well- it's not something I'm actually going to get to look seriously at until at least October anyway; maybe they'll have an alternate distribution method by then. - HC

Hmm! Now I'm tempted to get it on GG, since it's completely DRM-free. On the other hand, Steam is so easy...
